Located on the stunning sandy shores of Peregian Beach, Seaside Retreat is a luxury sustainable oasis designed by Danika Rae Design.

 

The split level two storey duplex maintains a west facing streetscape with the eastern aspect open to the expansive yet secluded beachfront ocean views. Positioned halfway between Noosa and Coolum, Peregian Beach boasts miles of sand, picturesque oceans, trendy boutiques, delicious restaurants and cafes, skateparks and entertainment.

 

Danika Rae Design used efficient site orientation in the initial concept development phases of design to maximize livability and climatic comfort for occupants. It was important to shield the western and southern aspects which receive intense solar penetration or cool winds and open the northern and eastern sides to welcome the most favourable climatic conditions. A spatial analysis was also conducted, and creative solutions were explored to achieve open plan living. With a combined floor area of 540m2, the two duplexes are both incredibly spacious and naturally light filled. The exterior form boasts modern and durable building materials, which is critical in a sub-tropic environment that is fully exposed to harsh elements on the oceanfront. Knotwood aluminium privacy screening, low E double glazed glass, and cement render form the visual base of the exterior. Knotwood’s facade battening and sliding panels not only create street appeal and increase privacy, they also shield the harsh sun from the western aspect. The sandy aluminium ‘woodgrain’ texture selected of white ash, combined with off white render and an abundance of greenery mimics the textures found in coastal environments and blends into the landscape. Whites, beiges, creams, browns and greys form the visual base, with the design style adopting a modern, contemporary coastal feel.
